POOL TABLE 101

POOL BALL CARE:

  • Dont drop them on hard floors.
  • Keep them clean. take a cloth and wipe them from time to time. You can use some mild soap and water instead of cleaning agents which could possibly damage the balls finish if to harsh of a cleaning agent.
  • Keep the pool balls in a specific area when not being used.

FELT CARE:

  •  vacuuming  or brushing your table cloth should be done with the grain not against the grain. believe or not this actually helps preserve your cloth over time.
  • Some prefer to vaccum instead of brush the cloth, as brushing can sometimes push the chalk or dust into the cloth rather than removing it and over time chalk/dust build up will slow down your cloth.
  • use a cover. needless to say this will protect your cloth al the while it isn't being used
  •  Watch the cloth carefully as you vacuum, if it moves while you vacuum, the suction is to strong or the attachment is not right.

POCKETS:

  • It's recommended that you dont store pool balls in the pockets when not using your pool table. Sometimes extra weight will create loose staples or wear on your pockets over time.
  • DO NOT sit on pool table pockets, rails or pool table for that matter. Dust the pool table pockets frequently.
  • You can clean the pockets with a damp, soft cloth and mild detergent every month or as necessary.

POOL TABLE MOVING:

  • We dont reccomend that pool tables should ever be moved by non-professionals. Alot of the work we do with regard to releveling, cracked slate or rail damage is the result of individuals moving the table themselves.
  • All slate pool tables must be disassembled before moving. You may be able to disassemble your pool table but reassembling is an entirely different thing and unless you have the right tools and experience, we dont advise you doing this.
  •
There are plenty companies that can move your pool table but you want to hire a "professional pool table mover" not just movers. We dont move anything else but pool tables, no pianos, couches, or other furniture. We will however move other gameroom pieces i.e. a pub table, video game, slot machine, juke box etc.

SLATE VS NON-SLATE POOL TABLES:

  • Genrally slate pool tables will play a lot faster, smoother and provide a much better leveled playing surface than a non-slate table. Slate pool tables are what the professionals use in tournaments and competitions.
  • Non-slate pool tables also known as "mdf" or medium density fiberboard is essentially just compressed wood and not the most durable playing surface and could easily break or chip. Obviously slate pool tables will weigh much more as well but just a better idea overall to go with a slate pool table.

KEEP PETS AWAY:

  • Urine from your pet can be very damaging to your pool table. It's just a good idea in general to keep water away from the wood.
  • Dont leave drinks on the pool table rails/cushions while playing. When water touches wood, the wood does absorb much of the water and can cause splitting down the road in some cases.
  • Fabric sealant like Scotch Gaurd , is always good for your felt for protection.

HOW TO BREAK:

  1. Use a breaking cue stick.
  2. Always rack the balls very tight.
  3. Use your body weight and push into the shot.
  4. take your time and concentrate a bit before ur shot.
  5. Above all practice makes perfect so really practice on your breaks!
